55 Rides

Proposing a senior project (the project that is to be the crown jewel of your college arts career) is a tricky thing. Some people chose an idea and stick with it till the end. Other people choose a project but then continually alter the direction of there initial idea. I was always of the feeling that planning from a to z was for other people, not me, and that dancing around a project, unsure of your own actions wouldn’t get you anywhere. That’s the exact reason I chose to hitchhike around New England in order to graduate. It was a trial by fire, putting myself on the road and hoping for the best. Instead of boxing myself into a certain idea I just made very loose plans, destinations, and let the project happen. As I hitchhiked I documented the trip as well as the people who I met along the way. The project is without a doubt my greatest college art project (is that saying much??) . The road dictated my future, you could say that I was just along for the ride.
